Resources Every Vegan Needs!

Hi Reader,

We’re doing things a bit differently today, hope you don’t mind.

So I decided to put together a quick “guide” to some resources I think you may find useful as you go through your plant-based/vegan transitioning.

I’m gonna put them into categories to make organization easier.

  • Food (Groceries/Snacks)
  • Vegan Education (Websites and Documentaries)
  • Vegan Cookbooks

And where to find them.

Stores: Brick/Mortar and Online. Please keep in mind this is NOT an exhaustive list, merely a jump start as it were.

OK, 1st UP!

Grocery stores where you can find vegan friendly foods:

  • Trader Joes
  • Target
  • Walmart
  • Publix
  • Kings
  • Wegmans
  • Whole Foods

Basically, every major grocery chain should have at least some vegan friendly items in stock and on shelves. Beyond fruits and veggies, they should carry some dairy and meat alternatives.

Make sure the packaging says vegan, suitable for vegans, or has plant based ingredients. If you’re not sure, you do do a couple of things:

  • Check if it has “cholesterol”,
  • Contains eggs or egg whites, milk or milk powder
  • Use an app like…”Is It Vegan?”
  • Or if all else fails, leave it alone

Online stores: (Some of these I’ve not used before and they may not be exclusively vegan, but they have A LOT of vegan options)

Vegan Essentials

Thrive Market

GTFO It’s Vegan

PlantX

Imperfect Foods

NoPigNeva

And of course, snacks!

Urthbox

VeganCuts

World of Vegan (This link has a lot of subscription box info)

CrateJoy (So does this one…)

Nutriciously (And this one also…)

TheSpruceEats (And we’ll add this one as well)

Looks like vegans like their snacks. I’m keeping these links handy myself because there’s a few in here that have my name all over them.

Ok, let's keep this train moving….

As far as vegan education:

Vegan.com

The Vegan Society

PETA

Vegan Documentaries:

World of Vegan (I’m only adding this one link because she has a list of 16 films, and where to find them, also a short description, and was updated recently.)

****I’m going to warn you right now…this is my PSA (Public Service Announcement).****

If you still eat meat or any animal products:

  • DO NOT plan on eating any of that while you watch these films (Don’t do it).
  • DO NOT plan on eating any animal products AFTER you watch these films. (Not happening).
  • DO NOT plan on shopping for animal products after you watch these films. (You won’t be able to do it).

"You take the blue pill -- the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, and you stay in wonderland. And I’ll show you how deep the rabbit hole goes." Morpheus, The Matrix

So basically watching these films is you taking the red pill. I just want you to be prepared. No jump scares.

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST: Vegan Cookbooks!

I don’t know about you, but I’m a complete 5 year old when it comes to my cookbooks and I need the recipes to come with pictures.

I need to know if what I made is even close to resemblance to what the author intended. More importantly I want to know if it’s even appetizing or if I'm wasting my time.

SOOOO, what that rant out of the way….

Vegan Cookbooks: (these are a couple that I personally have)

Isa Does It

The Oh She Glows Cookbook

Also, check out online recipe websites:

Oh She Glows

Minimalist Baker (not completely vegan anymore)

Vegan Richa

I hope you find these resources helpful. It’s just a jumping off point but it should help you as you continue to move forward with your transition.

Thanks again,

Hugs and chocolate kisses! Kadae
