Smart-ish Snacking...for you and me!


Hi Reader,

So, we talk about a lot of things here, healthy living, better choices, yada yada yada, but can we get into some snacks?

I mean, sometimes you just have to live, you know what I mean? But you don’t want all that living to undo everything you're working towards. You need a happy balance.

But let’s be honest here, even though you want to make better choices, you still need that sh*t to taste good.

So, what are some decent options? And, more importantly, how can we zhuzh it up a bit? I mean, why be basic, when you can be… EXTRA!

Let’s look at a few real life examples:

  • Popcorn
  • Hummus
  • Mixed Nuts

Not bad on its own, even in a basic form. Now let's elevate the sh*t out of this shall we? Make this worth our time.

Popcorn- let’s do a couple of topping options

  • Powdered peanut butter/coconut sugar/salt

(Powered pb had lower calories and fat than regular pb. Coconut sugar is minimally processed, it contains a small amount of inulin which is s soluble fiber which makes blood sugar spikes less likely.)

  • Cinnamon/sugar
  • Garlic powder/italian herbs/vegan parmesan

Hummus- more toppings please!

  • Greek style- Chopped red onion/olives/chopped tomatoes/cucumber
  • Roasted garlic/toasted pine nut
  • Chimichurri

Mixed Nuts- let’s do this!

  • Candied nuts
  • Toasted with spices (curry powder/cayenne pepper/sea salt)
  • Pure vanilla extract
  • Pumpkin pie spiced

So, as you can see, snack time can be fun, tasty, satisfying, and still within the realm of achievable.
